The Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC) are five people that YOU have the power to elect. They approve all requests for power bill increases from Georgia Power, which are often passed along to customers like you.

Here are some of the votes the PSC has made to raise your power bills:

  • December 2022:
  • The PSC voted to raise bills by approximately $16 per month over the next three years
  • November 2, 2021:
  • Georgia Power allowed to bill customers $2.1 billion for Plant Vogtle expansion
  • October 29, 2021:
  • Court ruling allows Georgia Power to charge customers $525 million to clean up its coal ash mess
  • July 6, 2021:
  • Georgia Power allowed to add covid costs to energy bills
  • June 24, 2020:

  • December 18, 2019:
  • Georgia approves almost $1.8B in rate hikes to cover coal ash clean up
  • December 17, 2019:
  • Georgia Power electric bills to increase in January and keep rising
